DECEMBER 28, 2018 – Motor carriers will be able to file their 2019 Unified Carrier Registration now that the final rule has been published in the Federal Register. The filing period, which normally runs from October 1 to December 31, was delayed as the FMCSA considered a fee restructure for the current year.
According to FMCSA Deputy Administrator Cathy Gautreaux, the delay was due to other priorities within the agency – including the ELD mandate which consumed a great deal of resources over the past few years, she said. Although this is the second year in a row that a delay in approving the UCR fee schedule occurred, carriers should expect business as usual next year. In addition to approving next year’s fees, the final rule approved fees for 2020 and “each subsequent registration year thereafter.”
