What DOT compliance updates does January 2024 have in store for the transportation industry?
The new year is officially in full swing, which means it's time to find out what new safety events and DOT compliance requirements are coming up.
2024 UCR Enforcement has Begun
If you haven't filed your Unified Carrier Registration for 2024 yet, you should do so as soon as possible. The enforcement period for this federal requirement began on January 1.
The UCR is a federal agreement that requires businesses that operate commercial vehicles in interstate commerce to register within their operating state and pay a fee based on the size of their fleet.
New FMCSA Clearinghouse Final Ruling Regarding Drivers with Prohibited Statuses
The most pressing order of business for fleet managers this year is the upcoming FMCSA Clearinghouse regulation going into effect on November 18, 2024.
According to the final ruling, State Driver Licensing Agencies must remove the commercial driving privileges from the driver’s license of any individual with a “prohibited” FMCSA Clearinghouse status until the driver completes the return-to-duty (RTD) process.
This means any drivers with unresolved drug and/or alcohol Clearinghouse violations will lose or be denied the use of their CDLs or CLPs.
